This list should be handed out to all parents when their kids start school. And every year thereafter. (I wish *I'd* had it when my kids were young!)

I love this. Most of us remember those feelings from childhood friends, and sometimes from adult friends too.

We lived in remote villages in Africa and South America for 18 months with our three young children. They went to eight village schools. Often, they were the only white children that their classmates had ever seen.

I hadn't realised how much of a learned skill it is to make friends and integrate into new communities until I watched the children become quicker and quicker at it. Amazing to see!

I also noticed that a lot of the relationship management they learned occurred when they weren't supervised - I wonder whether that plays a role as well? https://guenbradbury.substack.com/p/why-you-should-turn-your-back-on
