Talking about children's mental health on NBC News Daily
How to know when to seek help for your child from a mental health professional.
Hi, I was in New York City on Tuesday, talking about children’s mental health on NBC News Daily. The first segment is above. I also did a second segment later in the afternoon.
So often, parents put off seeing a mental health professional for themselves or their child because things aren’t that bad. But if they’re not that bad, it may not take much to make things a lot better!
There are many options for psychotherapy, ranging from non-directive play therapy to skills-focused cognitive behavioral therapy. Depending on what’s going on, psychotherapy may involve only the child, only the parent(s), or the whole family.
Do you have general questions about psychotherapy that you’d like me to answer? Let me know in the comments or submit it HERE, if you’d rather be anonymous.
P.S. I’ve done a fair bit of media, but it’s still exciting for me! TV is challenging because the segments move so quickly. In case you’re interested, here are some behind-the-scenes photos.
