The best way to reach kids is with humor. Too many books about feelings and friendships are preachy and boring.
In our books Growing Friendships: A Kids’ Guide to Making and Keeping Friends and Growing Feelings: A Kids’ Guide to Dealing with Emotions About Friends and Other Kids, Chris McLaughlin and I have cartoon vignettes of common friendship rough spots, research-based tips, plus a cat and dog character who make goofy suggestions along the lines of “He should lick their faces!” (No. Don’t do that. That’s not a good idea!)
The cat and dog are our favorite parts of the books, so to celebrate the release of Growing Feelings, we’re offering a contest:
Send in a photo of your cat or dog with a (real) copy of Growing Feelings. Post it on social media with the hashtag #GrowingFeelings or email it to me at DrF@EileenKennedyMoore.com.
We’ll share our favorites and send the winners fun pet toys!
Tell your friends!
For inspiration, here’s a photo of Chris’ dog, Bernie, and a friend’s cat, Zoe, both big fans of the new book.
